Fenghua Lantern Show in Nantou, Taiwan
At the invitation of the Nantou County Government in Taiwan, Zhejiang Province arranged 12 groups of lanterns to appear at the Lantern Festival in Nantou. Among them, the carefully crafted lanterns in our district have attracted many Taiwan compatriots to stop and admire, taking photos, and added new colors to cross-strait cultural exchanges.
The Fenghua lantern showcased this time has a unique and profound design. The lantern is inspired by Maitreya and embellished with the landscape and folk culture of Fenghua around it. It perfectly blends Maitreya's optimistic spirit with Fenghua's natural beauty and humanistic feelings, and is deeply loved by tourists.
It is learnt that the Nantou Lantern Festival is a traditional folk cultural activity in the Nantou County, which was founded in 2016. Every year, tourists from all over come in droves to enjoy lanterns and celebrate the festival together. According to incomplete statistics, the cumulative number of visitors to the exhibition has exceeded 20 million. The Nantou Lantern Festival 2025 starts on January 25 and is to end on February 16, totaling 22 days, spanning the Chinese New Year and the Lantern Festival.
In recent years, the bond of family between Fenghua and Taiwan has remained strong, and the heat of cultural exchanges has not diminished. From the temple fair and lantern festival during the Spring Festival to the reunion and moon watching during the Mid-Autumn Festival, people from both regions celebrate the festivals together. Our district continuously deepens mutual understanding and emotional identification among compatriots through organizing cultural exchange groups, holding cultural exhibitions, and other means.
